Dr. LeFevre is on faculty at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine where he maintains a clinical teaching role for medical student and resident education and practices full-scope family medicine including outpatient care of children and adults, hospital medicine for children and adults, and an active obstetric practice. He trained in the country’s first 4-year federally-qualified-health-center-based family medicine residency in Lawrence, Massachusetts which strongly emphasized integrated addiction medicine care including MOUD. This included walk-in same-day buprenorphine starts, inpatient buprenorphine starts, and the Boston-Medical-Center based nurse-care-manager OBOT program model. He then worked in Fort Worth Texas for John Peter Smith Hospital system as residency faculty where he collaborated on multiple SAMHSA grants including SBIRT (screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment) as well as the establishment of inpatient buprenorphine starts, policies and procedures for obstetric care surrounding MOUD, the establishment of a bridge clinic, and the establishment of outpatient MOUD in the family medicine practices. He was part of the Texas state ECHO network and the UT-Austin SHOUT grant which was working to improve inpatient buprenorphine use. Through these experiences he has insight into issues involving inpatient, outpatient, and obstetric MOUD care models.
